Board of Trustees
Structure and Function
A Board of Trustees under the authority of the Elder Board of Hill Country Bible Church Northwest (HCBC NW) governs Hill Country Christian School of Austin. The Head of School is a perpetual, non-voting member of the School Board. Of the remaining board seats, a simple majority must be filled from the membership of HCBC NW.
School board members serve for a term of three years and may serve two consecutive terms. New board members may be nominated by one or more sitting Board members, by petition of no less than ten parents of current students of Hill Country, or by recommendation of the HCBC NW Elder Board. Any two sitting board members may remove a nominee from consideration. Each new board member will be selected from the slate of nominees by an 80% majority vote of the sitting school board. Hill Country Board members are approved by the HCBC NW Elder Board and serve at their discretion. A husband and wife may not serve on the board simultaneously.
The Board of Trustees has four primary roles:
- Keep the founding vision of Hill Country Christian School alive.
- Ensure the continuing viability of Hill Country.
- Maintain a five to ten-year strategic plan that describes the necessary actions to move Hill Country forward so that the school may serve succeeding generations of students.
- Supervise the Head of School.
Day-to-day operation of the school is delegated by the School Board to the Head of School, who functions as the chief administrator. If you have a question regarding the day-to-day operation of the school, please call the school office at (512) 331-7036, and ask to speak to an administrator.
