Hill Country’s “Angels in Motion” Dance Team, coached by Alyssa Dyson, won top awards at the Vista Ridge Competition on Saturday. They took two first place trophies for their group dances and won the sweepstakes trophy for the best overall score in their division. Hill Country’s women’s dance team is comprised of students in the sixth through eighth grade.
On May 2, the team will be hosting a Choreographer’s Showcase featuring the dance team and guest artists. The performance will be held at 7:00pm in the 3rd floor auditorium.
Austin, TX- March 26, 2014- The Hill Country Christian School Varsity Track and Field Team continues their long tradition of success by qualifying four athletes for Texas’s largest and most prestigious track and field meet, the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. In its 87th year, the Texas Relays will be held March 26-29, 2014, on the University of Texas Campus, Mike A. Myers stadium. Led by Knights Varsity Head Coach James Washington and Assistant Coaches Toby Thurman and Janean Greer, Hill Country’s athletes have won an impressive array of championships since 2001, including numerous team and individual state championships in both track and field events.
Senior Karen Baker, the reigning two-time state champion for TAPPS 2A in both the 100 and 300 hurdles, qualified to compete in the Division 1100m hurdle event, which is scheduled for Friday, March 28, at 1:30pm. She also joins fellow seniors Andrea Bandow and Aimee Mora and junior Kara Wedgeworth who earned the chance to compete in the Division 1 4×400 relay event, set to start at 4:15pm on March 28. The relay team won silver at the 2013 TAPPS State Meet and bronze in 2012, and the Lady Knights have their sights set on gold this season.
According to Coach Janean Greer, “The girls have been working extremely hard this season to get a qualifying time for Texas Relays. Since three of the girls on the relay team are seniors, they feel especially honored to get to compete for their final season. Qualifying is a very high accomplishment because you have to be one of the top times in the state.”
