“Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.’” Isaiah 28:16
This passage reminds us that God is in control. Amidst the chaos of life, He has provided a solid foundation on which we can rely—Jesus Christ. When we truly believe and trust in Jesus, we will not panic or be shaken by events and circumstances going on in the world around us. Often we may be tempted to put our trust in and build our lives around our own intelligence, influence, or finances. When we do this, we are on “sinking sand”, so to speak. Just as one would not build a home or building on unstable, shifting ground, we don’t want to build our lives on faulty, temporary, or vain pursuits. As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:11, God has given us the only true foundation. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. With Jesus as our cornerstone, we build our life on solid ground.
When reading the verse from Isaiah and thinking of our campus expansion, we envision the day the foundation is poured for our new building. We are reminded that Jesus is the foundation for our lives as well as for Hill Country Christian School. Back in 1996, our school was founded with the purpose of building a Christ-centered, Classical, college-preparatory private school. We have had Christ as our center, our foundation, from the beginning. We have sought the Lord’s guidance and His will along the way, and we are now at the very exciting time of literally building upon that foundation that was first laid in 1996.
As we move forward in the process with raising capital, may we trust and believe that Jesus will indeed provide! We offer this prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are sovereign. You have given us Jesus Christ as our rock and our foundation. Thank you that we can trust in Him and not be shaken by the uncertainties and hard circumstances of life! We believe in Jesus and trust Him fully to guide us now and into the future. Thank you for growing our school and leading us to this point in the campus expansion project. We desire to bring you glory by representing Christ in our community, and we ask that you would bring us together and unite us to accomplish your purpose. Help us remember to always rely on Jesus and keep him as the foundation in everything we do. Amen.
