Other than Austin, I’ve lived in Hawaii, Japan, New York, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. I earned my degree in Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin and my Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Texas State University. I taught here at Hill Country from 1996 to 1999, then came back on staff in 2021. I taught for 12 years as an intervention specialist in Austin ISD and Buffalo, New York. My son is a current Hill Country student, Class of 2027.

I taught at Hill Country the first three years it was open, 1996-1999

If you could meet one historical figure or famous person, who would it be and why?
Harriet Tubman: she had a warrior’s heart and such a love for people she was willing to lay down her life.

What is your favorite Scripture or quote?
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3

What do you believe makes Hill Country distinct, other than the tight-knit community?
The teachers have a dedication toward students’ learning that feels more like a passion than a job.
