Student Activities Leadership Team

Round Table Jacob Lindsey

Dear Hill Country Parents,

After several years of careful analysis and prayerful review, we are excited to launch the Student Activities Leadership Team (SALT) for our high school students for the 2026-2027 school year.

Our Student Council has faithfully served the student body over the years, facilitating excellent retreats and dances. Nevertheless, there are some limitations to this model, which we hope to address through an exciting new approach to student leadership.

The development of SALT is the culmination of research, internal conversation, collaboration with other Christian schools, and a combination of survey responses and anecdotal feedback from both students and parents. Moving forward, we are excited to host the events traditionally associated with Student Council while also expanding the number of formal leadership positions and faculty/staff mentors involved in student government, ultimately impacting more areas of school life, including the student experience in elementary and middle school.

The new process for SALT selection will involve multiple stages, including an initial application, mentor interview, and student vote. An administrative committee, including myself, Mrs. Bayer, and Mr. DeVries, will then evaluate these three components to select the SALT Coordinators for the upcoming school year.

Students currently in high school received this information during chapel on Monday, January 12. 8th graders will experience the same presentation next Tuesday, January 20, during a Community Time assembly.

As Paul notes in Romans 12:-4-6, “For just as we have many parts in one body and all the body’s parts do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another. However, since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them properly.” In this spirit, it is truly a blessing to tap into and cultivate the varied gifts and talents that the Lord has given our students, and I am thrilled to see how God will impact our community through these student-leaders and their mentors next year.

With joy,

Jacob Lindsey, High School Principal
