Your Back-to-School Roadmap: Key Dates for August

Dear Hill Country Families,

Whoop, whoop! You made it to summer vacation. Way to go, HillCo community!

This is our last regular Knightly News of the school year. We’ll send two special summer editions: one in mid-June and one in mid-July.

Before we go quiet for a few weeks—and before many of you head into vacations, camps, and slower summer rhythms—I want to help you mark a few important back-to-school dates. I know your calendars fill up quickly, so please pin these now.

A Change to Knights Unite

We will not host Knights Unite in the same way we have in past years. As we reviewed the event, we realized we were trying to accomplish too much in one short window. That made it harder for the event to serve students, parents, and teachers as well as we wanted.

So this year, we’re breaking the goals of Knights Unite into several smaller, more focused events. We believe this will give families better information, give students a smoother start, and give teachers more meaningful time with you and your children.

Important Back-to-School Events

Meet the Teacher
Tuesday, August 11
8:00 a.m.–noon

Classrooms will be open, and teachers will be available to meet students. This will be a come-and-go event. You and your students can visit classrooms, pick up schedules, meet teachers, drop off supplies, and get familiar with new spaces before the first day of school.

We believe this will help students feel more comfortable and confident when school begins on Thursday, August 13.

Sixth Grade Bootcamp
Tuesday, August 11
Noon–1:00 p.m.

Sixth grade students and parents will stay after Meet the Teacher for Bootcamp.

All-School Chapel
Thursday, August 13
8:30 a.m.

Parents are invited to join our 2nd–12th grade students for All-School Chapel. We will worship together and hear the school theme for the year.

Preschool–1st grade students will stay in their classrooms so they can have a smooth start to their first day.

Preschool and Elementary Parent Night
Wednesday, August 19
6:00–6:30 p.m. or 6:45–7:15 p.m.

These two sessions will be the same. Please choose the time that works best for your family.

This evening is designed for parents. You will learn more about your child’s teacher, what your child will study this year, classroom expectations, and how we can partner together for your child’s success.

Middle and High School Parent Night
Wednesday, August 26
5:30–8:00 p.m.

Parents will follow their student’s eight-block schedule. This will help you meet teachers, hear what students will learn, and better understand the rhythm of your student’s school day.

We believe these changes will set students, parents, and teachers up for a stronger start and a stronger year together. We can’t wait to serve your family next year. In the meantime, we’ll be busy preparing for another amazing year at Hill Country.

Enjoy the summer heat, the relaxed pace, time with family and friends, and, especially for the students, the break from homework!

Go, Knights!
